Bladder Incontinence

Bladder incontinence means leaking urine when you don't want to. It is common and can happen for many different reasons. Some people leak with coughing, sneezing, lifting or exercise, while others experience a sudden, strong urge to urinate that is difficult to control.

Changes to bladder control can occur during pregnancy and after childbirth, with menopause, following surgery, or alongside changes in pelvic floor muscle function. You don't have to accept bladder leakage as something you simply have to live with.

Pelvic health physiotherapy can help identify the factors contributing to your bladder symptoms and develop an individualised treatment plan. This may include pelvic floor muscle assessment and training, bladder strategies, advice around habits and fluid intake, and practical strategies to manage urgency or leakage.

Whether you have occasional leakage or symptoms that are affecting your everyday life, support is available. An assessment can help work out what's happening and what may help.
