Pelvic Pain and Endometriosis

Pelvic pain can be experienced in many different ways and may affect the bladder, bowel, sexual function, menstrual cycle or everyday activities. Pain can be felt in the lower abdomen, pelvis, vulva, vagina, rectum or pelvic floor, and may be persistent or come and go.

There are many possible contributors to pelvic pain, including endometriosis, pelvic floor muscle tension, bladder or bowel conditions, hormonal changes, previous surgery, injury and other gynaecological conditions.

Pelvic health physiotherapy can help assess the different factors contributing to your pain and develop an individualised treatment approach. Treatment may include education, strategies to manage symptoms, pelvic floor assessment and treatment, movement and exercise, and support to gradually return to activities that are important to you.
